Welcome from theHeadteacher
I am delighted to welcome you to The Holy Cross School.
Since 1931, generations of young women from across Kingston upon Thames and beyond have been proud to receive a first class education in this vibrant and caring Catholic school. The education we offer underpins the spirit of the pioneering Sisters who first established the school – to inspire students to work hard, identify their gifts and talents and aspire to greatness.
We are blessed to have a highly experienced and dedicated staff whose mission is to ensure that each student makes sustained and substantial progress, experiencing success, no matter what their starting point.
I do hope you enjoy browsing through our website and are able to get a flavour of how we learn joyfully and live fully at The Holy Cross School.

Anya, Year 10: My time at The Holy Cross School has been wonderful. The school is special because it is shaped by our faith in God. I’ve enjoyed attending clubs like the netball club and Mathspod, which helped me with challenging work. The Year 9 surf trip was a highlight, and I had so much fun learning to surf with my peers.
I've taken on leadership roles, such as captain of the netball team and sports captain, which have boosted my confidence. Being a Wimbledon Ball Girl was a significant achievement for me, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. The positive environment at Holy Cross has allowed me to make lifelong friendships and participate in meaningful events, such as Black History Month assemblies. I’m so glad to have been involved in this, as it gave me a sense of equity as a young black woman within the school. The school has prepared me well for my GCSEs and shaped my future goals. I highly recommend Holy Cross for its supportive community and excellent opportunities. Thank you for reading.
Violet, Year 7: Being a Year 7 at Holy Cross is amazing! I always feel supported by my teachers and happy and safe in my learning environment. All the students around me are as enthusiastic to learn as I am, so it’s very easy to study. I also feel that I’ve benefited from Holy Cross being a girls' school—there’s no limit to what I can achieve and learn!
As a Year 7, I expected that coming from the independence of Year 6, we might not have much responsibility. But instead, I’m already trusted by my teachers to take on jobs and tasks independently. From day one, I felt cared for and instantly made friends—which was a big concern of mine before starting—with every girl in my year, as everyone was so friendly. Starting here has been a smooth transition filled with interesting lessons, great friends, and many memories I’m sure not to forget!
Chloe, Year 9: “I'm going to tell you about my time at Holy Cross! I've now been at this school for three years, and it has definitely been an amazing experience. The teachers here are lovely, very understanding, caring, and positive. All those things are really important when you want to have a good school experience, and it’s so much easier to learn when you have a good teacher. That's what makes Holy Cross great: we are so diverse, both in people and subjects.
We have a wide range of activities during and after school for everyone, whether you enjoy being on the field or on stage. For example, every other year we have a school musical, and we frequently hold sports events. At Holy Cross, there are so many opportunities to develop confidence and personal growth, like the school council, where you help make decisions about what the school needs. Anyone can help with assemblies, which boosts your confidence, and you can assist with open evenings, information evenings for parents, and even projects like what you're reading now! I’ve had the opportunity to write about my school and why I love it. Overall, this school is a lovely and safe environment, and I hope you choose Holy Cross—see you soon!”
