School Houses
Our school is organised in horizontal year groups and also in vertical Houses. This model was launched in September 2017 after an extensive student voice consultation and the names of our Houses were chosen by a student vote and are linked to Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel values.
All students are allocated a house when they begin at Holy Cross. This provides opportunity for healthy competition through gaining house points for their particular house, house events and assemblies, building relationships across year groups and creating projects and raising money for charity as a house group. A student’s house identity is displayed by a coloured ribbon sewn above The Holy Cross crest on the school blazer.
Each house, with its own individual colour, is named after a Christian value put forward by the students.
LEADERSHIP:
The students are led by a team of Sixth Form Yr 12 Heads of House and Deputy Heads of House. Within the main school (Yrs7-11) each form is led by its House Captain. This model of leadership opportunity facilitates a sustainable model of student leadership and provides good role model aspiration. We now have a total of 35 House leaders!
