Dress Code

Our Sixth Form students are role models for the rest of the school and their professional demeanour and appearance reflect the fact that they are young adults who are preparing to enter the workplace.  We like to allow for some individuality, colour and creativity within the parameters of “smart business wear”. Students must wear their ID lanyard at all times for security purposes.

Smart separates or suit, any colour:
  • Formal skirt or dress (with jacket) or trouser suit. Students may wear any colour or pattern.
  • Skirts/dresses should be of a professional length and style. Informal stretchy skirts are not permitted. Trousers are to be tailored, full or ankle length.  No jeans (of any colour), denim items or leggings.
  • Skirts should be formal and tailored. Pencil, pleated or A-Line styles are acceptable.
  • A smart shirt, blouse or top should be worn. Any colour or pattern. Vest style tops are not appropriate.
  • A smart jumper may be worn in colder weather.  Any colour or pattern is acceptable but please avoid large logos.
  • Casual sweatshirts, fleeces or hoodies are not permitted indoors.
Outdoorwear
  • Outdoor garments such as coats/scarves/gloves/hats should be removed after arriving at Sixth Form.
Shoes
  • No trainers, canvas shoes or flip flops.
Hair & makeup
  • We have adopted the Halo Code in regard to all Afro hairstyles. The Halo Code is a policy that aims to end hair discrimination by celebrating Black and Afro hair and textured hairstyles.
  • Extreme hairstyles/colours are not permitted.
  • Make up, nail colour etc is permitted.
Jewellery
  • No facial or tongue piercings, although a single discreet nose stud is allowed. Earrings are fine.
Tattoos
  • No visible tattoos

If you attend any lessons at Richard Challoner School please familiarise yourself with their Dress Code in order to avoid being challenged on your appearance which could result in you being sent home to change clothes:
