At The Holy Cross School Sixth Form we place great value on the support and guidance that we provide our young people. Our partnership offers a warm welcome to the many students who return to study with us at post 16, as well as to all our external students. Within a friendly atmosphere and one of mutual respect, students, teachers and support staff work together to create a positive environment, fostering self-confidence, enthusiasm and commitment.

With over 450 students and a wide range of academic and vocational subjects available, we are a thriving community, where each student is valued and supported at a personal level. The individual co-construction meetings that take place with senior staff for students enrolling into Year 12, ensure that all students select the appropriate courses with the right assessment criteria to suit their individual talents. This enables them to go on to make sustained and substantial academic progress.
All our courses are delivered by subject specialists and in many departments we have teachers who are trained examiners.
Within a culture of academic excellence, students are encouraged to be active learners from the outset and we promote the best habits of independent thought, learning and research. Student progress is closely monitored at each ability level throughout the year so that o student is left behind and each student fulfils their academic potential. We value knowing all our students well; their strengths and the challenges they may face.
Out approach in Sixth Form is a holistic one. Not only are students academically challenged, they are also given the opportunity to experience a range of activities and events such as leadership opportunities, overseas travel, cultural trips, work experience and voluntary work in the community. These are designed to develop well-rounded young people with the necessary life skills to make a successful transition to university and the world beyond school.
